This lesson and craft was great for this chilly winter season here in Florida. The kiddos here don't normally get to make snowmen unless they are made from cotton balls! This was a fun project to do with our Children's Church class.
We started out with three circles black circles and told the kids we are going to make a snowman out of them. This got them wondering why a black snowman.
The black represents us before we are saved. We had no good in us we were dark black with sin.
Next, the kids glued cotton balls on the black as we talked about how when God gives us the faith to believe that Jesus took the punishment for our sins then we are forgiven. The white represents how pure we look before God without any black sin counted against us. He sees Jesus' righteousness in us.
As we talked about this amazing grace we completed the snowmen. Here are the steps:
Add the verse Psalm 51:7 and a red cross. I explained that the cross is red to represent that through the blood of Jesus we are forgiven.
Next they added a felt hat
felt eyes,
folded pipe cleaner nose,
felt buttons,
and finally stick arms.
Have fun creating and God bless you!
